Henry D?Angela joins St. Catharines Mayor Brian McMullan at the Chamber of Commerce meeting last week

Daniela Piteo Thorold Niagara News The St. Catharines ? Thorold Chamber of Commerce joined together last Friday to deliver an address ? ?The Tale of Two Cities? ? outlining the achievements of each community. Mayor Henry D?Angela of Thorold and St. Catharines Mayor Brian McMullan spoke of their cities? achievements and goals to the business community at John- Michael?s Banquet and Conference Centre in Thorold to a full house on February 5. Mayor D?Angela opened his speech with an analogy comparing municipal government to an eight-man rowing shell- noting that is not individual efforts that yield the best results, but the collective, a team working together. ?If we are to succeed in this economy ? or in any economy ? it will be by our collective efforts. Continuing my sports analogy, I?d like you to reflect on the following quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson: ?No member of a crew is praised for the rugged individuality of his rowing,?? D?Angela said. ? So it is in the world of industry and commerce.
